Quantitation of A2 hemoglobin by polyacrylamide gel disc electrophoresis: a method with individual specimen standardization.
A polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis technic for the determination of hemoglobin A2 is presented. Rapid separation is an advantage. The use of a diluted hemolysate as a 4 percent standard avoids overestimation of the A2 fraction by densitometry and also provides a reference for visual comparison. Normal range of A2 hemoglobin by this method is 1.12 to 4.13 per dkg. Coefficient of variation was ...
متن کاملSerum lipoprotein estimation by polyacrylamide gel disc electrophoresis.
A simple, rapid method is described for separating the serum lipoproteins into clear, discrete and reproducible bands by polyacrylamide disc gel electrophoresis. The sample is prestained with Sudan Black B in a sample gel and resolved by electrophoresis in a discontinuous pH system consisting of a sample gel, concentrating gel and separating gel. 30 young healthy males and 20 young healthy fema...
متن کاملSeparation of radiolabelled glycosaminoglycan oligosaccharides by polyacrylamide-gel electrophoresis.
Glycosaminoglycan oligosaccharides generated by treatment of biosynthetically radiolabelled dermatan sulphate and hyaluronic acid with chondroitin AC lyase or testicular hyaluronidase may be resolved into a series of discrete bands by polyacrylamide-gel electrophoresis. Bands were identified by fixation in glacial acetic acid containing 20% (w/v) 2,5-diphenyloxazole followed by fluorography. Th...
متن کاملSeparation of ten reovirus genome segments by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.
Double-stranded ribonucleic acid (RNA) extracted from purified reoviruses of all three serotypes and from type 3 virus-infected cells was analyzed by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. It was calculated that each RNA includes 10 segments: 3 large, 3 intermediate, and 4 small fragments corresponding to molecular weights of about 2.5, 1.4, and 0.8 x 10(6) daltons, respectively, or a total of 15 ...
متن کاملPolyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis
Polyacrylamide gels are typically formed by polymerization of the monomer acrylamide crosslinked to the co-monomer, N,N’-methylenebis-acrylamide, commonly called BIS. This process is a freeradical polymerization that requires an initiator, usually ammonium persulfate, and a catalyst like N,N,N’,N’-tetraethylmethylenediamine (TEMED). A distinct advantage of polyacrylamide gel systems is that by ...
